Junior Consultant / Consultant


Position Summary

  • To ensure the delivery of standard studies concerning several countries.
  • To ensure the forecast for defined countries
  • To deliver and contribute to the successful outcome of customer specific single client studies

Key Accountabilities
  • Research and automotive intelligence
  • Analysing the market development in specific countries
  • Use of R. L. Polk Marketing Systems specific forecasting systems
  • Forecasting of new registrations (PV and LCV)
  • Forecasting of light vehicle production
  • Updating the model policy for certain brands
  • Compilation of standard studies
  • Market research projects
  • Professional customer support
  • Sales support
    • Identify and pass on potential sales opportunities
    • Offer preparation/pricing
    • Client visits
  • Seminar participation
  • Supporting the software development

Typical Activities

  • Financial Controlling
    • Confirmation of invoices against supplier deliveries
    • Control the data costs in the contracts against the invoicing
    • Daily maintenance of the data acquisition accounts and budget
    • Creation of monthly financial reports for the acquisition manager
    • Submission of monthly “Flash reports” in close co-operation with the financial department
    • Support in the creation of a yearly budget plan
  • Supplier Relations
    • Resolve financial and quality conflicts between Polk and the data suppliers
    • Regular contact with international suppliers to ensure the avoidance of any possible conflicts resulting in extra costs
  • Supply Management
    • Acceptance of incoming supplies
    • Informing the internal recipients of the incoming supply
    • Daily maintenance of the internal Polk information systems – cataloguing data components lists, supplier and supply details
    • Attending internal meetings reporting the supply status and helping to resolve any conflicts between supply users and the supplier
    • Co-ordination of “client specific” data supplies such as “sales information” or “account related” data supplies
    • Support in producing and cataloguing of supplier evaluations and contracts
  • Research Activities
    • Research and identify new information sources for integration into Polk products
    • Co-ordinate and drive improvements in data supplies with current and new sources
    • Request and analyse quotes and create documentation to support the internal decision making process
  • Other
    • Attend internal meetings concerning quality issues and supply delivery schedules
    • Supporting the acquisition manager in responding to “RFQs” (Request for Quote)
    • Supporting the acquisition manager in issues of “R&A” (Request and Approval)
    • Researching and cataloguing of information in country specific dossiers

  • Chief Analyst – improvement of forecasts
  • Product Manager - improvement of R. L. Polk Marketing Systems products
  • Contract Manager – for sales support
  • Key Account Manager - for sales support
  • Data department - to ensure data quality
  • Analysts and consultants - to coordinate and harmonise the forecasts
  • Editorial team - to ensure the compilation of studies

Education / Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Degree or equivalent

Work Experience

  • Preferable:
    • Experience in the Automotive industry

Professional Skills

  • Essential:
    • Consultancy delivery skills
    • Strong English language skills, written and spoken word
    • Cultural Awareness
  • Preferable:
    • German, any language spoken in the relevant countries

Other Requirements

  • Travel to other sites within the R. L. Polk group will be required
  • During peaks of activity you are expected to work a reasonable amount of additional (unpaid) hours to ensure business objectives are met
